Clive and Sheila Owen held their 16th annual charity dinner
Fairwood Fabrications General Manager ‘Clive Owen’ and his wife Shelia have once again held a successful charity bash.
The couple first started their fundraising in 1996 with the aim of raising money to support charities and their support organisations and individuals with specials needs.
To date they have raised in excess of £135,000 all of which has been donated to numerous charities such as, the neurofibromatosis association, Mencap, motor neuron, Alzheimer's society, special needs schools, hospitals and many cancer charities.
Mr Owen said this year the two beneficiaries were 11-year-old Port Talbot youngster James Haymer, who needed a new hi-tech wheelchair, and The Mullany Fund.
"Each were presented with a cheque for £3,750,"
he said.
"The night was again a great success and was supported by many local businesses, family and friends. The monies were raised on the night from raffles, donations and an auction of sport memorabilia.
"In what are very difficult times with much economic uncertainty, we continue to be overwhelmed with the support we receive and with people's generosity.
"We would especially like to thank the Towers Hotel who have supported this event since its inauguration in 1996."
