Summer Shutdown – Tata Steel
Fairwood Fabrications Ltd has recently been instrumental in the TATA Steel (Port Talbot) summer shutdown
More than 130 staff were deployed during 3 concurrent campaigns, providing 24 hour support. Our experienced on-site team consisted of Management, Health and Safety and fully qualified Fabricators, Welders, Fitters and Riggers.
During the shutdown, Fairwood Fabrications Ltd were involved in general maintenance and repairs to the BOS Plant converters, typical work included leak repairs, cover removal and valve changes, as well as more specialised maintenance such as the strip and reassembly of dust collecting pipework and repairs to Off Gas Ducts. There was also an entire carriageway rebuild.
A highlight of the shutdown was Fairwood Fabrications Ltd pivotal role in an unplanned bearing change. The last bearing change took place over 20 years ago, which could’ve been a daunting prospect, however with our expertise and over 30 years’ experience the project was successfully completed.
We would like to thank all of our Staff and Suppliers for helping us in completing such major work in a time critical period.I would just like to thank you all for your efforts, commitment and support
Robert Atkinson - BOS Plant - Tata Steel
